What’s the size in your wallet?

I have often figured that the larger denomination of currency I carry, the lesser I tend to spend, and the more I spend when I carry smaller denominations, especially those petty purchases.

I recently came across an interesting article that further validated this fact. The currency that consumers carry in their wallets can influence buying behavior. However, this does not work in medium or high involvement purchases.

Although fitting into a small segment of consumer behavior studies, can this be a part of a retailer's marketing strategy? Can the local bank or the atm cash dispensers in the surrounding area influence your sales? Is there a withdrawal : spend pattern in a certain locality? If this ratio worked towards the retailer's advantage, maybe it would be a good idea to talk to the local bankers to get them to dispense lower denominations????!!

The marketing of politics??!

I was rather surprised to receive this sms this morning.
“Subject: JANMITRA
Prevent Family Rule. Stop Instability. Vote BJP. Support B S Yeddyurappa. Absolute Majority to BJP = Total Development of Karnataka. Jai Karnataka.”

Although sms marketing is being abused and overused now, this came as a bit of a surprise. I was fairly impressed with this thought coming from a political party, not because I don't know they have a mktg cell too, but because its new. And anything unconventional often wins attention.
I couldn't care 2 hoots what the parties have to say, but I admit they won me for a few seconds.
